“At a time when our schools have to ask parents to give extra money for books and classroom essentials, it’s crazy we’re spending half a billion pounds a year just on agency fees. That money should be spent on teachers and the badly needed resources our children need to get a world class education”
-Angela Rayner, Shadow Secretary of State for Education, Labour Party Conference 2018
We are pleased that the two biggest problems with education recruitment agencies have been highlighted at the Labour Party Conference in Liverpool this week. They are: the massive expense to schools and the extensive exploitation of teachers and support staff.
We started Teacher Booker to address these specific problems. Our mission is to create technologies that improve the lives of everyone in the education sector.
By cutting out agencies, over the last year we’ve helped schools save up to 90% on agency fees and empowered teachers to earn more. Our technology is also having a major social impact by enabling school leaders to spend more on their pupils’ education.
We’d welcome the opportunity to collaborate with political leaders from all parties and at all levels of government to support even more schools and teachers.
While a top-down approach to the problem is commendable, even if a project such as a ‘National Substitute Teacher Register‘ gets the green light, it will take time and expertise to build. But many schools face a supply and recruitment crisis today. Teacher Booker is here right now to help forward-thinking school leaders make the best use of their limited resources so they can spend school budgets on what really matters – pupils’ educations.
Teacher Booker is the online platform revolutionising education recruitment. We aim to eradicate the expensive fees charged by supply teacher agencies, saving schools in the UK millions of pounds a year. Ultimately we hope this will lead to more money being available to the whole education system.
